Hotel Sempione has been running since the 30's
hotel with a strong florentine heritage
The Hotel Sempione has been run by the Nutini's family since the early 30's of the last century. At an early stage, the hotel was actually positioned in the former P.zza della Stazione, known as Hotel Nettuno. But in 1932, after a major restructure of the train station led by famous architect Giovanni Michelucci, who changed the dispositon of the square as well, hotel owners were asked to choose new buildings for their business in the nearby streets.
The owners at that time were Mr. Natale Frosini and his wife, Mrs. Giulia. They opted for the building situated at number 15 in Via Nazionale, which then was completely refurbished and reopened for business as Hotel Sempione Nettuno, to render tribute to the opening of the important Simplon Rail Tunnel. Via Nazionale, one of the oldest and most important street in Florence, has been often portrayed by the renowned Alinari's Brothers photographic firm.
Then, the second generation of the Nutini's family, Giulio and Adriana Nutini, took over. As of now, the hotel is run by two of their daughters, Daniela and Guia, which led the new redecoration works of the whole structure in 1998. The solid family tradition is being carried on thanks to the precious cooperation of the fourth generation of the family itself (Giulia,Claudia and Benedetta). The third sister, Nora, with the help of her husband and her son Corso, are managing the Hotel Apuana, owned by the family since 1921, and situated in Versilia, famous Tuscan seaside resort.
